Who we are
MilitaryRP runs milrp.co and the MilitaryRP game server, and is responsible for the data described here. You can reach us through our contact page.
What we collect
- When you sign in with Steam: Steam tells us only your SteamID64. We never see your Steam password.
- From Steam's public API: your Steam name, avatar, profile link, country if you show it, when your account was made, whether your profile is public, any VAC, game, community or trade bans, and your Garry's Mod playtime and achievements if your game details are public.
- From the game server: when you join, your rank and V.I.P status, your playtime, kills, deaths, money, level and XP, and any bans, with who issued them, why, for how long and when they were lifted.
- If you link Discord: your Discord ID, username, display name and avatar. We never store Discord passwords or access tokens.
- Your time zone, if you choose one in your settings. Until you do, we work one out from the country on your Steam profile when it has a single time zone. It isn't shown publicly: we use it for times on the events page and to fill in forms, and our game server can read it along with the rest of your profile.
- Activity: when you last signed in, last joined the server and were last active.
- Appeals and signed-in reports: what you write, any contact details you give and the outcome.
- Bug reports: what you write, including any page, device or Discord username you give, and the status admins set.
- Applications: what you are applying for, your Discord username, your time zone, when you can play, your answers and, for staff applications, your age, along with the status admins set.
- Your loading screen music setting, if you turn the music off in your settings.
- Mini-events, if you're staff and book one: what you enter, shown publicly on the events page with the host name you give.
- Anonymous reports: only what you write. We don't save your account, IP address or anything else that identifies you with them.
We don't use analytics or advertising trackers.
Why we use it
To run the community: showing profiles, player and staff lists, leaderboards, server status and the ban history, enforcing the rules, handling reports and appeals, fixing bugs, choosing staff, and keeping the website secure. We rely on our legitimate interest in running and moderating the community, and on your choice when you link Discord or send an appeal, report, bug report or application.
What is public
- The server's loading screen shows your Steam name, avatar and rank while you join, and your level and playtime unless you hide your server stats in your settings.
- Your profile: Steam name, avatar, country, account age, Steam bans, and your Garry's Mod playtime and achievements and linked Discord account unless you hide them in your settings.
- The ban history, which lists every ban the game server records, including for players without a website account, by SteamID64.
- The staff list.
- Your game server stats (playtime, level, XP, kills, deaths and money) on your profile and the leaderboards, unless you turn them off in your settings.
Staff can hide a profile with an inappropriate name or avatar from every public list.
Who we share it with
- Steam and Discord: we fetch your public data from them, and links on the site take you to them.
- Staff: they see appeals and reports in a private admin panel and in private Discord channels. Reports about staff members are only shown to admins.
- Admins: they see bug reports and applications in the admin panel and in private Discord channels.
- Our hosting and network providers, who run the servers the website is on.
We never sell your data or share it for advertising.
How long we keep it
- Your account, profile data, appeals, signed-in reports, bug reports and applications: until you delete your account. Steam data is refreshed regularly while you're active.
- Ban records: kept as the game server's history, even if you delete your website account.
- Anonymous reports: kept as moderation records. They aren't linked to anyone.
- Server logs: our servers keep standard request logs for a short time for security. Anonymous report submissions are never logged.
Your choices and rights
- Download everything we hold about you, and delete your account, from your settings.
- Hide your Discord account and Garry's Mod stats from your profile there too.
- For anything else, such as correcting something or objecting to how we use your data, contact us through our contact page.
If you are in the UK or EU you also have rights under data protection law, including complaining to your data protection authority. In the UK that's the Information Commissioner's Office.
Children
You must be 13 or older to play or use the website. If we learn that someone younger has an account, we'll delete it.
